    Screening and Celebration event

    It was wonderful to finally bring together our storytellers from Nairobi, Chavakali and Loita for a screening and celebration of their hard work on 2 August 2021. The event was also attended by several colleagues from Worldreader network members and also colleagues who participated in our Reading on Screen project,

    Professor Joseph Kavulya and I were delighted to be able to present a paper based on the work of the DRIVE project at the Society for the History of Authorship, Readership and Publishing Conference, held online for the first time in July 2021.

    It has been a year like no other, but I am very grateful to all network members and project partners for making it possible for us to continue with the project, adapting to the ‘new normal’ and hopefully forming some collaborations and friendships that we can take forward.

    Reading Cultures

    Online events

    This month, network members have been attending some events that have gone online due to the pandemic.  The Nairobi International Book Fair took place between 24-26 September and among the speakers were Raila Odinga, Former PM, and Ngugi Wa Thiong’o,
